There is a saying here in the south-west of Germany: The Swabian becomes wise at the age of 40. It is doubtful whether this is always the case - it definitely applies to me. I'd rather not know exactly how much money I've already spent on equipment during my time as a bass player. Only to find out shortly after the purchase that something did not suit me. But it was only after almost 30 years that I came up with the idea of not just buying something else again, but of creating something new based on what I thought could be improved, according to my ideas. Originally just for me and not at all intending to sell the result.
